Dinner's on Ice
When Nick was in school, I was in school and we were both working full time, I quickly realized that unless we wanted to spend our paychecks on Wendy's stock (and food) I needed some more dinner solutions. So, I started cooking ahead. I went through once a month cookbooks, freezer cookbooks, and studied what can freeze. I like to cook, so I don't do it much anymore. I do still freeze cheese! And wontons. Wontons (Gyoza, Pot Stickers) are delicious but so time consuming that it makes no sense not to stock up.
Yum! I now have about 6 meals on ice. Who's coming to dinner?
My patient helper?

Naked Baby in Diapers
Sure his butt looks big, but since he's so skinny, it helps keep his pants up!
I think he likes them :)

We are a hybrid Family
Sure, I could say it's because of the environment. Or I could say it's because of the price of diapers. Both are very true.
But ultimately, I think it's because they are so gosh darn cute!
I prefer to think of it as hybrid, because he wears disposables at night, and when we go out. But at home it's cloth.

Serendipity
A long time ago in elementary school I read a book called Serendipity: Accidental Discoveries in Science. I don't remember much about it except learning the word serendipity. I liked that word. It was long, fun to say, and made you seem smart.
Well, having a baby has made me more aware of product recalls, and hazards. I'm not concerned about the ones I call stupid (like the Toy Dart Gun recall) but more the dangerous ones. So I signed up on the notification list.
Imagine my surprise when last night I got an email warning about a dishwasher that poses a fire hazard, and has caused a kitchen fire. Especially since it's our dishwasher!
So, maybe not quite serendipitous as I wanted to know about recalls, but I definitely wasn't looking for anything outside of baby/kid stuff.

Containment
I have discovered that at this age, it's pretty much all about the containment. Where can I put the baby that he will be happy and allow me to start dinner, eat lunch, go to the bathroom, get a drink of water, all those little freedoms that I used to take for granted :)
Luckily he likes his swing, and his crib (only to lay, not to sleep yet) if the mobile is going.
He likes his bouncer chair, and will sleep in his new pack and play.
And my favorite is his high chair. His high chair sits on one of our kitchen chairs so it's high and easy to put him in and out. It reclines nicely, so Matthew likes it too. I've been known to lay him on a blanket on the floor, but not if I'm leaving the room. If I do, I come back to Stitch licking the baby clean.
The weirdest place he fell asleep was yesterday on our office chair. He and I were having a rough day, he needed sleep and wouldn't nap. So, when I sat him down and he went to sleep, I watched him, but refused to move him.
