A Boy and His Dog, Part 2

One of our activities was introducing Stitch to Matthew. Stitch has been really good. He likes to lick Matthew's face whenever we've taken him somewhere. I think he's making sure it's the same baby that we left with! Stitch likes to check out anyone who comes by to see Matthew. He sleeps near the baby at night, keeping an eye on him and us.

Sewing Attempt

When I saw this oh so cute fabric, I thought it would fit perfectly in Matthew's Room. But what to do with it?

Then I remembered how convenient a diaper stacker is. I went searching for a pattern online figuring it can't be too hard to make. Well, I didn't like any of the patterns I found. I thought about asking my sewy friends to help me, but then decided to go for it.

I think it turned out alright. And it definitely does what it's supposed to!

A Little Excited

Okay, a lot excited. Today I did this:

I will say this, it's hard to pack for a baby when you don't know what they will need. I don't want to take every little thing we have for him, but I'm hoping I don't have to buy too much in Utah. I did pack all the newborn diapers I have as I don't expect them to fit when we get back. I packed a few of my favorite outfits that I was given that are small. I packed 3 bottles. Just three. And of course, 1 blanket. My mom and mom in law are throwing a baby shower for me, so I don't want to overpack and then have no room coming home.
We'll see I guess. Who knows, I may end up repacking his bag in a week.

P.S. His due date was moved to April 2, 2010, but the doctor said he's going to be late. And his head is down.

Our New Video Camera

For Christmas my parents give us money rather than try to figure out what we want. Well, Nick and I decided that with Baby coming, and us living across the country from the grandparents, a video camera would be a good investment. We wanted a pocket Video Camera (think Flip). We debated, researched, checked out videos on You tube to see quality, and finally settled on a camera - The Kodak Zi8. Well, imagine our surprise when we couldn't purchase the camera anywhere! We tried online, we tried brick and mortar stores, everywhere we went we were collecting rain checks, and frustration. Finally, we went online to the Kodak store and found another option. The Kodak Playsport. Most of the features are the same as the Zi8, but it is more rugged, cheaper, and intended to take a little more of a beating. Also, it's waterproof up to 10 feet! While I don't intend to make it a habit, thoughts of a child throwing the camera into a pool (or the toilet) make this a good feature. However, we would be getting a 'first edition'. Which normally we avoid, we prefer to let others work out the bugs. Also, the camera wasn't set to be released until the middle of March. If there were any delays, we wouldn't get it in time for our trip. We took the chance. We got the email that it was delayed from March 17th to March 28th. Cutting it close, but we decided to be patient and see what happened. Lo and behold, we got an email announcing a March 10th ship date! And today, I got my video camera!!! Now the fun part, playing with it!

It's so tiny!!

It's also so simple to use! These are the only controls.

More Baby

We have a few new additions. I am very grateful to my friends at work who have given me more baby things. I now have an awesome stroller, a changing table, and a crib. Nick put up the light on the right wall. We put a nice soft 40 watt bulb in it.

Stitch enjoys being in the room. He got mad at me the other day when I moved his pillow out of the room. Nick was super excited about the gift I got today. I think it's a great outfit to go with Jay.

About a month after we found out about Matthew, Nick and I went to the Build A Bear store. We made him, stuffed him, and of course gave him two hearts (one from each of us). We named him Jay. He is waiting for Matthew too.

Mmmm Vegetables!

Paid for my CSA today. Now I am looking for recipes to try this summer when I get my fresh and yummy vegetables!

Planning

One of the memories I have from growing up is road trips. Whether it was moving from Ontario to British Columbia, or moving from Pennsylvania to Oregon, or driving to visit family in Utah, I have a lot of memories of time in the car. I learned the best way to relax on my brothers carseats, the best time to steal their Happy Meal Toy, and how to read a map. At least a few times my parents used the AAA TripTik. As we have plans to visit a few Diners, Driveins, and Dives, as well as take the scenic route home, I got the opportunity to create some TripTix! Now to wait for them to arrive...

The Boston Opera House was beautiful! The performance was wonderful! I had a great date night with Nick.

As a benefit of my job, I earned a check to use for dinner. We splurged on Umbria Prime. The steak was amazing, the risotto was delicious, the sides were eh. I would skip the sides next time (ha ha, I doubt there will be a next time!)
